  • Theatre Royal

Theatre Royal Glasgow Moleta Munro & Page Park Elgin, Pentland, Storr and Tiree Fabrics The foyer extension for Scottish Opera at Glasgow’s Theatre Royal was focused on creating a transformational experience for audiences, encouraging wider community engagement and building a sustainable business for the future. The project focused on the audience’s journey from ‘street to seat’ – on improved approach, entrance, intuitive internal wayfinding and the provision of enhanced audience facilities. The demolition of the former Café Royal building provided the opportunity to create a dramatic extension addressing the street corner of Hope Street and Cowcaddens Road, allowing the Theatre to celebrate the corner in a fashion prevalent through Victorian Glasgow. The form of the extension is derived from the splendid category A listed auditorium. 'It was a pleasure to work with Bute on this project. The layering of textures was important to the interior concept and Bute worked closely with ourselves, the client and furniture manufacturers to deliver a number of beautiful fabrics.' - Eilidh Henderson Page Park. 'It is refreshing for us to be able to work with and support local suppliers, such as Bute, and we continue to be impressed with the high quality and innovation of their product range.' - Justin Baddon, Founder and Managing Director Moleta Munro. • Fairmont Hotel

Fairmont Hotel St Andrews RPW Design Lewis and Melrose Fabrics The highly anticipated refurbishment of the Fairmont St Andrews public areas was completed in September 2015. This included a complete re-design of the hotel's voluminous Atrium space, which overlooks the North Sea that now incorporates a bespoke 60m long ceiling sculpture by award winning artist George Singer. The ethereal, organic sculpture flows through the space, reflecting the movements of the sea. RPW's design concept was to transform this area into a more inviting and human-scaled space. A mixture of natural hued finishes was introduced to the surfaces, including timber floors of different patterns, rich earthy green wall colour and eclectic furniture styles that created a warm, more inviting atmosphere. The designers have worked alongside Scottish artists and manufacturers to reinforce the sense of locality within the hotel design. Bute provided a number of fabrics for the project including Melrose and Lewis. These were used in the Atrium restaurant dining and wing chairs. These fabrics were selected for their durability, natural wool composition and richly textured design. < Previous Project Next Project >
