About Bute Fabrics

Bute fabrics was founded in 1947 with the sole purpose of providing employment opportunities on the island for service men and women returning from the Second World War. We have been specialising in manufacturing woollen woven fabrics for nearly 75 years and this year we relaunch the Bute Looms brand, a collection of soft home and fashion accessories. We are a small mill with a workforce of under 50 people, most of whom were born and bred here on the Island, and still to this day we are proudly supported by our owners, the Bute family.

About the role of Senior Accessories Designer

In this role you will be working as part of a small team creating new designs for the Bute Looms brand collection. Researching new techniques and sourcing new yarns will be an important part of the role, focusing on developing exciting, innovative, and sustainable accessories.

As well as the Bute Looms collection, you will be responsible for managing key private label accounts, guiding our customers through the design and development process and liaising closely with our production team to realise the customers designs.

The role requires
- Woven textile degree
- 5+ years experience in textile design with Jacquard
- Knowledge of national and international yarn suppliers
- Proficient in Apso software
- Sales experience desirable

This role involves travel nationally and internationally.

Hybrid working is an option, with a minimum of 3-4 days at the mill per month a requirement depending on location of the successful applicant.
